Foreign Tourist Demands Refund After Drinking Half a Juice Over “Mold” Concerns: Nha Trang Shop Owner Speaks Out

by BusinessMagazine

On the evening of September 15, social media was stirred by a video clip showing a heated dispute between an Indian tourist and a juice shop owner. According to accounts, the guest ordered a cup of fresh juice priced at 39,000 VND. After drinking half of it, he suddenly claimed the beverage showed signs of mold and demanded a refund, which the owner refused. The incident took place on the evening of September 15 at a juice shop in Nha Trang.

Tue Van, 37, the juice shop owner, confirmed that he was the person arguing with the tourist in the viral video. Van explained that when the tourist first raised the issue, staff clarified that white foam naturally surfaces when fresh fruit is cold-pressed or blended, rather than indicating mold or spoilage. Nevertheless, the customer maintained that the white foam was mold, questioned the product’s safety, and continued demanding his money back.

The male tourist eventually left the premises and posted a one-star review of the juice stall on Google Maps, detailing his grievances.

Speaking further with Tuoi Tre newspaper, Van stated that the primary reason he firmly refused to issue a refund was that doing so would inadvertently imply that the beverage was tainted, whereas all ingredients met strict freshness and hygiene standards.
