The survey, conducted by the US-based analytics and consulting firm, reveals that 83% of Vietnamese households are prepared to respond to natural disasters—second only to the Philippines and far surpassing the global average of 35%.

Gallup attributes Vietnam’s high preparedness to its geographical vulnerability to frequent natural disasters, strong recovery capabilities, and continuous investment in disaster risk management. This proactive approach positions Vietnam as a model for countries facing climate change risks.

Recent heavy rains have highlighted Vietnam’s preparedness efforts. In Yen Bai alone, over 13,000 people joined disaster response teams, with an additional reserve force of 62,000 standing by. As the Central region braces for a predicted increase in storms over the next three months due to the La Niña phenomenon, Vietnam’s focus on disaster prevention and planning remains crucial.
